“Hasil monitoring kepada pengurus di grass root dan survey internal PPP, menunjukkan belum ada tokoh baru yang menonjol. Mega dan Prabowo di grass root tetap yang paling kuat dukungannya setelah SBY. Namun persoalannya kemenangan dalam pilpres tidak selalu bergantung kepada siapa yang terkuat,” tutur Sekjen PPP, M Romahurmuziy.

Menurut Romi, syarat pengajuan capres juga menentukan. Karena jika syaratnya dirubah tentu peluang memenangkan pilpres juga berubah.

“Persoalan utama, apakah UU Pilpres akan bersyarat sama yaitu minimal 15 persen suara/ 20 persen kursi untuk mencalonkan, serta harus memenangi lebihdari 50 persen atau tidak. Kalau persyaratannya masih tetap demikian atau malah naik, hasilnya bisa berbeda,” tutur Romi.

Karena itu PPP belum memutuskan akan mendukung siapa dalam pilpres 2014. Namun melihat gelagat politik terkini sebelum mengambil keputusan.

“Namun demikian Pilpres 2014 masih terlalu pagi untuk ditakar berdasarkan elektabilitas hari ini. Calon baru masih mungkin muncul, kombinasi pasangan masih sangat mungkin di luar yang sekarang dibicarakan, dan calon baru yang muncul masih punya peluang untuk meningkatkan elektabilitasnya. Volume was below average across financial markets heading into the weekend. Trading was choppy as perceived risky assets gave up much of their initial gains.

Anxiety over potential ratings downgrades in European sovereign debt and their repercussion on the region’s banks underpinned safety bids for U.S. and German government bonds.

Fitch Ratings on Friday placed Belgium, Cyprus, France, Ireland, Italy, Slovenia and Spain on watch for possible downgrade and warned that a comprehensive solution to this festering problem is “technically and politically beyond reach”.

It affirmed France’s AAA-rating but could strip the second-biggest euro zone economy of its top-notch rating in two years.

Fitch’s rating move and dire warning about Europe trumped optimism about the U.S. economy following recent upbeat data.

Government data released on Friday showed U.S. inflation pressure waning, fanning expectations the Federal Reserve could do more to boost economic growth. The latest consumer price report followed data on Thursday suggesting a possible pick-up in job growth, which has been meager during the current recovery.

Investor fears about the euro zone debt crisis persist as European leaders have not delivered more measures to contain the crisis after promising increased fiscal disciple at a summit in Brussels last week.

“There remains a great deal of concern about the direction of the euro zone,” said Michael Woolfolk, senior currency strategist at BNY Mellon in New York. “We’re still not trading on fundamentals and haven’t been for some time.”

The MSCI world equity index rose 0.3 percent after hitting a three-week low on Thursday. The index is still down 3.5 percent on the week.

The Dow Jones industrial average (DJI:^DJI) closed down 2.42 points, or 0.02 percent, at 11,866.39. The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index (SNP:^GSPC) was up 3.91 points, or 0.32 percent, at 1,219.66. The Nasdaq Composite Index (Nasdaq:^IXIC) was up 14.32 points, or 0.56 percent, at 2,555.33.

On the week, the Dow fell 2.7 percent; the S&P lost 2.9 percent and the Nasdaq declined 3.5 percent. (.N)

European stocks (.FTEU3) ended down 0.5 percent, erasing earlier gains on selling tied to expiration of options contracts. They finished 2.9 percent lower on the week.

Tokyo’s Nikkei (Osaka:^N225) ended up 0.3 percent, reducing its weekly drop to 1.6 percent.

The euro clung to the $1.30 area versus the dollar after falling to 11-month lows on Wednesday. The 17-nation common currency was poised to close up 0.1 percent against the greenback after touching a high of $1.3084. It lost 2.6 percent against the dollar on the week.

PERIPHERAL YIELDS STAY HIGH

Long-term borrowing costs for Italy and Spain, whose heavy debt loads have worried investors and rating agencies, fell early in the trading day. That helped to steady the euro and briefly boosted European shares.

But they ratcheted back up to alarmingly high levels, with the yield on 10-year Italian government bonds creeping back above 7 percent, which analysts deem unsustainable for the euro zone’s third-biggest economy to pay.

Italy faces a confidence vote in parliament, called to speed up approval of a 33 billion euro ($43 billion) austerity package aimed at restoring investor confidence.

Amid these political developments, worries linger about the euro zone debt crisis and have supported U.S. Treasuries and German Bunds. They pushed aside optimism about the U.S. economy and hopes the European Central Bank will ultimately step in to buy bonds of troubled euro zone peripheral countries.

Bund futures ended up 1 point at 138.66 at their highest in four weeks. Benchmark 10-year Treasury notes were up 17/32 in price for a yield of 1.85 percent, touching their lowest levels in early October.

Gold, another traditional safehaven asset, snapped a four-day losing streak tied to fund liquidation.

Spot bullion in London ended up 1.5 percent at $1,593.68 an ounce after touching the lowest level since late September on Thursday. For the week, gold fell 6.8 percent, the biggest weekly decline since late September.

The oil market struggled to hold early gains on nagging worries about the euro zone crisis causing a global economic slowdown. February Brent crude futures settled down 25 cents at $103.35 a barrel, while spot U.S. oil futures settled down 34 cents at $93.53, briefly falling below their 300-day moving average.

This week, the Chinese government upped the ante in the Obama-China trade dispute by surprisingly imposing new tariffs on imports of Honda and Cadillac models, Chrysler Jeep Grand Cherokee, the BMW X5 and X3 and Mercedes Benz models made in Michigan, Alabama and South Carolina. China argues that the U.S. provided illegal subsidies to these companies during the economic downturn in 2008 and is selling those vehicles cheaper in China than they are sold for in the U.S.

The U.S. exports around $92 billion worth of goods to China and cars account for around $4 billion of that. The tariffs, which range from just 2% to as much as 21.5% could impact $2.5 billion worth of American auto exports, according to preliminary estimates by the U.S-China Business Council, a Washington lobby.

China’s Commerce Ministry announced the move shortly after the White House said it would ask the World Trade Organization to investigation Chinese restrictions on U.S. poultry exports, of all things.  But more importantly, the U.S is also investigating whether Chinese exports of solar panels might have received illegal subsidies or have been dumped in the American market at prices below the cost of manufacturing them.  This is a major sore spot for China because it views green tech as one of its core and most innovative developing markets.  If the WTO punished China, it would have ramifications across the solar power industry the country does not want to deal with, especially in a slow growth environment.  China is the world’s leading producer of solar panels, so an attack on them by Washington raises red flags. What better market to go after in the U.S. than autos?  The red dragon just blew a hot stream of fire across the Pacific Ocean, right on top of the White House.

US-China Business Council (USCBC) President John Frisbie said in a statement on Thursday that, “USCBC is just beginning to examine the Commerce Ministry’s announcement. We don’t have all the facts yet, but two things are worth noting. First, in 2010 the U.S. exported about $3.5 billion worth of motor vehicles to China and the amount this year is on pace reach nearly $4.5 billion. Motor vehicles impacted by these tariffs are probably in the neighborhood of 3% of all U.S. exports to China. The ability for American companies to export and sell cars to China is important.”

China is a member of the WTO, but that doesn’t mean member nations cannot take protectionist measures whenever they see fit. This opens up a host of legal battles and due diligence to see whether or not the tariffs are warranted. It’s time consuming, and it’s political. The Obama administration has not made any decision yet about consulting the WTO on the matter, but the House Ways and Means Committee, which has oversight of U.S. trade deals, is pushing for it.

The boy, who was living with his Filipino mother and American father, was seized in Manila on Dec. 6 by three gunmen who cut off the car he was traveling in with the mother, said Isagani Nerez, head of the police anti-crime unit.

A $13,600 ransom was paid three days later, but the kidnappers demanded $113,000 more before releasing the boy, whose identity has been withheld, Nerez told reporters. The father, an engineer, sought the help of the U.S. Embassy and FBI, who sent representatives to the national police headquarters to coordinate with local authorities in securing the victim’s release, Nerez said.

He said police feared the boy would be harmed and traced his location to the kidnappers’ hideout in Prieto Diaz town in eastern Sorsogon province. On Wednesday, police stormed the site, rescued the boy, who was unharmed, and arrested three of his alleged captors. A follow-up operation led to the arrest of two more suspects in Manila on Thursday.

“We were worried that the kidnappers would kill the boy if their demand was not met,” Nerez said. “It was the reason why we decided to launch the assault on the kidnappers’ lair.”

After a medical checkup found the boy to be in good health, he was reunited with his family, Nerez said.

The boy’s identity was withheld because of privacy concerns. Nerez said he was attending an international school in a Manila suburb.

U.S. Embassy spokeswoman Betina Malone told The Associated Press that the U.S. authorities were appreciative of the efforts of Philippine police in rescuing the boy. “It was the result of a great deal of hard work,” she said, adding that U.S. authorities expected those responsible to be prosecuted and punished.

The five suspects were charged by the Department of Justice with kidnapping for ransom and are being held in police detention pending trial. If convicted, they face up to 40 years in prison.

“They are new faces,” Nerez said, adding that the suspects have not been previously linked to kidnappings.

He said they could be linked to the communist rebel New People’s Army, which has a strong presence in Sorsogon province.

Last week, 14-year-old American Kevin Lunsmann escaped from suspected al-Qaida-linked militants in the southern Philippines after five months in jungle captivity. His Filipino mother was freed two months ago, and their cousin escaped last month.

Kidnappings for ransom are more common in the impoverished, volatile south, home to a long-running Muslim insurgency. But abductions have also taken place in Manila, which was once notorious as the kidnapping capital of Asia. Children of wealthy Filipinos are often targeted and many cases go unreported to police.

Meski belum ada studi rinci, Shubham mengatakan keuntungan dan kerugian proses redenominasi pasti ada. Tetapi, hal yang perlu dicermati adalah bagaimana menjaga kondisi makro stabil.

Redenominasi merupakan proses penyederhanaan nilai mata uang rupiah. Dalam kajian sebelumnya, redenominasi akan menghilangkan 3 nol dalam nominal rupiah sekarang, namun tidak akan mengurangi nilainya. Misalnya adalah uang Rp 1.000.000 nantinya menjadi Rp 1.000 namun nilainya tidak berkurang.

BI beberapa kali menegaskan, redenominasi bukanlah sanering karena nilai rupiah tidak akan berkurang setelah redenominasi. BI memperkirakan proses redenominasi akan membutuhkan waktu sekitar 10 tahun. Tahapan pertama yang dilakukan bank sentral yakni sosialisasi yang semula dilaksanakan di tahun ini.

1. Virus
Termasuk virus yang menyebabkan mononucleosis dan flu. Beberapa virus juga dapat menghasilkan lepuh di mulut dan tenggorokan (aphthous stomatitis).

2. Bernapas melalui mulut atau merokok dapat menghasilkan kekeringan dan nyeri tenggorokan.

3. Drainase sinus (post nasal drip)

4. Infeksi bakteri
Dua bakteri yang paling umum menyebabkan sakit tenggorokan adalah Streptococcus, yang menyebabkan radang tenggorokan dan Arcanobacterium haemolyticum. Arcanobacterium menyebabkan sakit tenggorokan terutama pada remaja dan kadang-kadang dikaitkan dengan ruam merah yang halus.

5. Sakit tenggorokan muncul setelah perawatan dengan antibiotik, kemoterapi, atau obat immune compromising lain mungkin karena jamur Candida, suatu kondisi yang dikenal sebagai thrush.

6. Sakit tenggorokan yang berlangsung selama lebih dari 2 minggu dapat menjadi tanda dari penyakit serius, seperti kanker tenggorokan atau AIDS.

1. Kumur dengan air garam hangat untuk membantu mengurangi pembengkakan dan meringankan ketidaknyamanan
a. Kumur setidaknya sekali setiap jam dengan 1 sendok teh atau sekitar 5 garam yang dilarutkan dalam 240 ml air hangat.
b. Jika memiliki postnasal drip, sebaiknya sering berkumur untuk mencegah iritasi tenggorokan yang lebih parah.

2. Mencegah dehidrasi
Cairan dapat membantu sekresi dan meredakan tenggorokan yang teriritasi. Makanan atau minuman dengan cairan atau kuah hangat, seperti teh atau sup, dapat membantu mengurangi iritasi tenggorokan.

3. Gunakan vaporizer atau humidifier di kamar tidur
Kabut hangat atau dingin dapat membantu seseorang merasa lebih nyaman. Hal tersebut juga dapat meredakan suara serak. Tetapi jangan biarkan kamar tidur menjadi tidak nyaman, yaitu menjadi dingin atau sangat lembab.

4. Jangan merokok atau menggunakan produk tembakau lainnya dan menghindari asap rokok.

5. Jika menduga bahwa masalah dengan asam lambung dapat menyebabkan sakit tenggorokan, maka segera berkonsultasi dengan dokter.

Penggunaan obat untuk meredakan radang tenggorokan, antara lain:

1. Gunakan pelega tenggorokan tanpa resep dokter yang dijual bebas
a. Beberapa lozenges pelega tenggorokan tanpa resep, seperti Sucrets Maximum Strength atau Spec-T, cukup aman dan efektif.
b. Penggunaan obat batuk tetes secara teratur juga dapat membantu.

2. Gunakan dekongestan
Dekongestan mempermudah pernapasan dengan mengecilkan selaput lendir yang bengkak di hidung, sehingga memungkinkan udara melewatinya. Decongestan juga membantu meringankan hidung meler dan postnasal drip, yang dapat menyebabkan sakit tenggorokan.

Dekongestan dapat dikonsumsi melalui mulut (per oral) atau menggunakan dekongestan nasal spray. Dekongestan oral (pil) mungkin lebih efektif dan memberikan bantuan, tetapi dapat menyebabkan efek samping yang lebih.

President Obama, speaking at a news conference with the visiting Iraqi prime minister Monday, said the United States had asked Iran to give the downed American reconnaissance plane back.

“We’ve asked for it back,” President Obama said of the drone Monday. “We’ll see how the Iranians respond.”

Iranian news agencies ridiculed the request on Tuesday as Iranian officials made clear they had no intention of giving back the American drone.

“We are still wondering how he shamelessly asked Tehran to give the US back the stealth drone which had violated the Iranian airspace for espionage,” the news agency wrote, referring to the American president.

“The American espionage drone is now Iran’s property, and our country will decide what steps to take regarding it,” Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi told ran’s ISNA news agency Monday, according to a BBC report. In another statement t the Mehr news agency, Vahidi said that “instead of apologizing to the Iranian nation, [the U.S.] is brazenly asking for the drone back.”

The unusual American-Iran media jousting over the downed RQ-170 drone came as an Iran prosecutor announced Tuesday that he has indicted 15 “American and Zionist” spies.

“IRNA on Tuesday quoted Tehran’s chief prosecutor Abbas Jafari Dowlatabadi as saying the suspects carried out espionage activities against Iran,” the Associated Press reported Tuesday. “He did not elaborate on the nationality of the suspects, nor say when they were detained.”

Last week, Lebanon’s al-Manar TV, which is controlled by the Iran-allied Shiite militant group Hezbollah, identified 10 alleged undercover CIA officers working in Lebanon with diplomatic cover.

“Hezbollah made the names public in a broadcast Friday night on a Lebanese television station, al-Manar,” the Associated Press’s Adam Goldman reported Monday. “Using animated videos, the station recreated meetings purported to take place between CIA officers and paid informants at Starbucks and Pizza Hut.”

“The disclosure comes after Hezbollah managed to partially unravel the agency’s spy network in Lebanon after running a double agent against the CIA, former and current U.S. intelligence officials said,” Goldman wrote.

The CIA dismissed the claims made in the Hezbollah broadcast, citing CIA spokeswoman Jennifer Youngblood: “The agency does not, as a rule, address spurious claims from terrorist groups. I think it’s worth remembering that Hezbollah is a dangerous organization, with al-Manar as its propaganda arm. That fact alone should cast some doubt on the credibility of the group’s claims.”

Two boys – ages 13 and 14 – were shot, said Hidalgo County Sheriff Lupe Trevino. Classes were not in session at Harwell Middle School when the shooting happened around 4:45 p.m., but the school complex was immediately placed on lockdown. Edinburg school district spokesman Gilbert Tagle said a number of after-school activities were going on besides the basketball tryouts, including a concert and a faculty meeting. He estimated as many as 200 children could have been on campus.

One of the wounded boys was in critical condition Monday night with a bullet embedded in an organ. The other was stable and awaiting X-rays, Trevino said.

At the time of the shooting, one of the boys was going for a layup. The other was waiting his turn to try out, Trevino said.

The sheriff said it was too early to say whether the students were targeted or if the shooting was accidental.

Investigators believe the shots may have come from hunters on adjacent farm property, Trevino said. The shots did not come from the campus and were not a result of a drive-by, he said.

Harwell Middle School opened just this year on the rural property northeast of Edinburg, which is about 50 miles northwest of Brownsville. Homes line the road approaching the school, but open fields stretch out behind it and to the north.

Investigators have spoken with owners of surrounding farms and the land was being leased to deer hunters, Trevino said. Authorities interviewed some hunters who were found on adjoining properties.

The outdoor court where the shooting took place was north of the school complex at an athletic facility that includes a football field, track and tennis courts, said Oziel Garcia, a 14-year-old eighth-grader.

Annette Vargas Ugalde, a 15-year-old eighth grader, said she was about to board her bus near the gym after school when school officials started rushing students indoors.

“They told us to, ‘Get inside, get inside,’” she said.

She said she heard no shots but saw a group of people on the outdoor court standing near one boy on the ground. A school nurse tended to him while another boy was sitting up.

Annett said she boarded her bus and it left.

Samuel Cepeda, a 15-year-old eighth-grader, said gangs have been a problem at the school, and he has worried about security. However, Trevino said investigators do not believe the shooting was gang related.
